Individuals who like speed, fun, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat are invited to participate in the club’s upcoming races. The 2024 season includes a Saturday racing series, Carter Lake Open Regatta, Columbia Cup, Double-handed Jack & Jill and the McGann Cup as well as Thursday evening social racing.
The club’s Saturday racing series encompasses 10 races:
- April 13
- April 20
- April 27
- May 11
- June 29
- July 13
- Aug. 3
- Aug. 17
- Sept. 7
- Sept. 21
Race Co-Chair Mike Glenn said he will notify those who have signed up to race if a race is going to be cancelled due to predicted inclement weather. Yes, weather in April can be tricky.
Racers are invited to meet post-race at the clubhouse on race days when no potluck is scheduled that evening. This is great time to knock down a beverage, talk about the day’s race and enjoy the friendship of fellow racers.
In addition to the Saturday racing series, four “special” races are on tap for the 2024 season:
- Carter Lake Open Regatta, June 1 & 2
- Columbia Cup, June 15 & 16
- Double-handed Jack & Jill, Aug. 4
- McGann Cup, Oct. 6
Social racing will be every Thursday evening, starting May 30 and continuing through September. Initiated last summer by a group of Capri 14 enthusiasts, this super fun casual racing is open to all boat owners, plus club members using club-owned dinghies and soon-to-be-added club-owned Capri 14.
